Privacy and rules

The community is here to share how the water was and ride together, not to let anyone find out where riders and their kit are.

Who runs this site

  • Efoil Hoy is built and hosted by OneTen (build.oneten.tech), which operates both this site (efoilhoy.com) and the community CMS (cms.efoilhoy.com, where the accounts, reports and rides described below are stored).

What we store

  • Email: to verify your account and reset your password. It is never shown to anyone and never leaves our content system.
  • Rider handle and one-line bio: seen by approved riders only.
  • Your reports: spot, day, hours, how the water was, issues and the optional note. Next to each report we store what we forecast for those hours, so we can compare.
  • Rides: the ones you host and the ones you join.
  • Vouches: who vouched for whom, and when.
  • A session cookie (payload-token, HttpOnly) while you’re signed in. No advertising or tracking cookies; visit statistics (Umami) are cookie-free.

Never your location

  • We never ask for or store your GPS, home town, address, or where you keep or park your kit. There is no field for it.
  • Please don’t type it into your bio, notes or rides either.

What’s public

  • Only anonymous report summaries per spot: day, hours, verdict, issues and our forecast. No handle, no note, no per-rider history.
  • Notes and rider handles on reports are visible to approved riders only.
  • Rides are visible to approved riders only. The exact meeting point and who’s going are visible only to the host and riders who joined.
  • There is no rider directory or search.

Vouching

  • Once your email is verified you can post reports. To see and join rides, another approved rider who knows you has to vouch for you with your handle (or an admin approves you).
  • Only riders approved for at least 7 days can vouch, and at most 3 times every 30 days.
  • We record who vouched for each account. If someone causes trouble, we also review who they vouched for and who vouched for them.

How long we keep it

  • Rides are deleted 14 days after their date.
  • Reports are deleted after 400 days (just over a season, so we can calibrate each spot).
  • Your account, until you delete it.

How to delete your account

  • Sign in, go to your account and press “Delete my account”. Your account, email and ride sign-ups are deleted straight away, and future rides you host are cancelled.
  • Your reports stay, with no link to you, because they help calibrate the forecast.

Community rules

  • Be honest in reports: say how the water was, not how you wished it was.
  • Don’t post other people’s details, where they leave their kit, or when they’re away.
  • Only vouch for people you’ve met in person.
  • Ride within your limits. Rides are between riders; we don’t organise them and aren’t responsible for safety.
  • We may restrict accounts that break these rules.
